What I meant by innovation here is:

any contrived religious matter that infringes upon the jurisdiction of Islamic Law and is done as an act of devotion.

Innovations in formal acts of worship are forbidden. We cannot worship Allah in any manner except the manner that He prescribed for us by way of His Messenger (peace be upon him).

I was just talking about innovations regarding acts of worship in Islam.

First , no such thing as wahabism. It’s just a label given to Islam and Muslims by saint and grave worshippers.

Second, Islam is perfect. Why add something as an act of worship to a perfect religion? Inventing a new act of worship means Islam to me is not perfect.

I hope I got what you meant by ’bida’a hasana’ right. If not then please explain what you meant by it.

This writer is just an apologist for a grotesque man and an oppressive ideology.

Ibn Wahhab was so extreme and his ideology so intolerant that he was disowned by his own father and his brother wrote a damning book against him, that book is banned in Saudi Arabia till this day.

The Wahhab ideology is one where anything that may be seen s distracting from worship is attacked. That is why, for instance, cinemas are banned in that cruel Kingdom.

Do not be fooled by the whitewashing of this writer, Ibn Wahhab’s call was not just the worship of one God as Muslims already do, but we placed himself as the decider as to who is or isn’t a Muslim.

Wahhabism was established in the Arabian peninsula through widespread violence and British arms.

Look at Saudi Arabia today. Women can’t drive, the sexes can’t intermix, there are public beheadings for lovers, girls who are rapped are punished instead of their victimizers, and recently a widow in her 80s was sentences to 40 lashes all because she was in the private company of her young nephew and his friend who came over to deliver bread. This is a grotesque country under a backward, vile clerical rule. This writer is just a pathetic apologist for bigotry, injustice and violence.

She has defended that pig known as Ibn Wahhab before without any shame. Maybe she needs a personal lesson in Wahhabism to understand that it is wrong.

You’re no different now from those non-Muslims who blindly attack Muslims and Islam and spread false accusations and lies against them.

Before you tell me what his father or brother wrote about him which is all lies by the way, have you read any of the sheikh’s books? If so, then quote something that supports your claims against him. Quote something he wrote that goes against Islam and I will believe you then.

”My way is the highway”, that’s what your sheikh delivered. He forcefully eradicated the notion of pluralis and diversity of interpretations. He banned freedom of thoughts. If he was so good, why is there no democracy in Saudi Arabia. Does Islam really ban Democracy???

His interpretation of Islam is an extreme version which found ground for the huge Kingdom of your country.

What the sheikh delivered was ” the prophet’s way is the highway”. If you’ve got something against the prophet’s way and path, then this is your problem.

I don’t know what you mean by diversity here, you mean like saying it’s okay that we worship the dead and invoke besides Allah since people have different interpretations of holy texts?

Well Almaha,

Islam is a religion of over a billion population. It has been interpreted as per the historical landscape of man. It can’t be stagnant or local as is put forth by your arguements.

Yes Islam is a religion of over a billion population but Islam is one religion. One God, one holy book, and one prophet.

And the Sheikh simply called to return to the Quran and the sunnah.

I read the sheikh’s books and there is nothing in his books that goes against Islam. Kitab at-tawheed is one of the best books ever written about Islam.

Those who blindly attack him, either they are enemies of Islam or they simply follow lies and false accusations.They definitely cannot quote something from his books to back their claims, but they are just good at giving labels.

As for different interpretations and diversity,

The greatest prophet peace be upon him said ”my Ummah will split into 73 sects: one will enter Paradise and 72 will enter Hell”

The one that enters paradise is the one that follows the prophet’s teachings (peace be upon him) without alterations, additions or innovations.
